Oatmeal Cookies:1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
1 cup light-brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking oats!)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground mace (or 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg)
Icing:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (confectioners sugar)
1 1/2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
