1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 cup room temperature butter
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/4 all purpose flour
11 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt

edible candy eyes

Recipe Instructions

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the butter and sugars. Add in vegetable oil. Mix well. Then, add in the eggs, mixing well after each. Mix in vanilla extract. Next, gradually add in the dry ingredients until just mixed. If using, add in the food coloring until desired shade is reached. Refrigerate dough for at least an hour or overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop dough by 2 tablespoons onto your USA Pan cookie sheet or half sheet pan. Press edible candy "eyes" into each cookie. Or, press each cookie into colored sugar or sprinkles. Leave 2" between each cookie. Bake for about 8 minutes (bake time will depend on cookie size). Remove to cooking rack. Remove from cookie sheet to rack after about a minute to cool completely.
